Of course it is not only the mind that is relaxed and soothed to a state of natural calm. The vibrational frequencies of sound healing instruments (such as crystal bowls) can travel through the skin, fluids and bones of the body and will relax the whole body and mind right down to the level of the cellular structure. Our cells have “antenna-like structures ...... called cilia that receive and respond to vibrational energy fields such as sound, light and radio frequencies.” The presence of cilia is the reason why our physical state and mental state is positively affected by sound healing modalities. Sound vibrations transmit a healing effect at the cellular level of our bodies, and this effect is picked up by these ciliated structures.

Everything with an atomic structure vibrates. The speed or frequency of vibration is called frequency. The optimum frequency at which an object naturally vibrates is called the resonant frequency. Each cell, organ and bone in our body has its own unique resonant frequency. When disease strikes, fundamentally, the vibrational resonance of that structure has been compromised or has become “disharmonious.” The goal of sound healing or sound therapy is to bring all the systems of the body out of disharmony and back into resonance.
